A Nod to Our Caribbean Famalay

It's June and we're so excited! Not only does June mark the official start of summer, but June is also Caribbean American Heritage Month! We love celebrating Caribbean culture all year round, but June just makes it extra special.

To be Caribbean is to be blessed with lots of family. As a family business, we make sure to take the time to share life's moments with our loved ones. Make sure you take the time to do the same! This month, we're celebrating Ms. Camella's birthday – she was such a remarkable woman and is the reason why we're here today. Ms. Camella was always making food to share with her famalay – be they her large extended family or neighbors and friends. Going to her house for special occasions (and even regular days) was a treat and you were sure to be plied with lots of delicious goodies. It is in that spirit that we continue to share the rich cuisine of the Caribbean with you all – welcome to our famalay.

We're also taking time this month to celebrate all that life has to give. Can you believe that next week will mark three months since we've been open? Time sure is going by fast! In our three months, we've had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of you at the community events and flea markets we've attended. We'd especially like to thank those who came out during Langley Park Day despite the rain.

This summer is looking to be a hot one and we'll continue to be out and about. If you'd like to see us in person, we'll be attending quite a few events in the upcoming months including a Juneteenth celebration and a few Caribbean events. As a nice way to wrap up the month, we’ll be at the Caribbean Heritage Festival in Silver Spring. Join us at the Silver Spring Civic Building for a taste of the Caribbean and to learn about our culture. If you haven't already yet, do check out our calendar to stay up-to-date on where we'll be.

Peace, love, and blessings,

Nyana + Karen
